Hey babes! I am back from an amazing vacation in Costa Rica!
I had such an amazing experience visiting Guanacaste for the first time and want to share all the deets with you!
I put together an in depth Know Before You Go Travel Guide here so you can refer to that for an overarching view of how to plan for a trip to Costa Rica.
This post will focus on booking a stay at the beautiful Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Hotel & Resort

The Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Costa Rica is nestled in nature and offers stunning water views of the Culebra Bay on Costa Rica’s northwest coast.
The resort has more than a 150 rooms, including 21 suites, with relaxing water views of Culebra Bay.
I stayed in the King bed bay view room. Complete with a complimentary minibar filled with snacks and beverages, 55 inch TV, 24 hour room service, floor to ceiling windows, complimentary flip-flops, and wifi.
The room in total is around 560 sq. ft. with an amazing private terrace! My favorite aspect of the room has to be the river stone rain shower!
When staying at the Andaz resort you will not go hungry. In fact, there are so many options to choose from that I am sure you will find a dish that you love and have the chance to try something new!
At the resort there (4) dinning destinations for you to choose from and each has their own menu and vibe!
Rio Bhongo Restaurant: Serves as the main restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Ostra Restaurant: Great for a date night or a chance for you to dress and enjoy a moody lit dinner with a fresh seafood and ceviche menu. Ostra is dinner only.
Chao Pescao Small Plates & Bar: This one is my personal favorite. They have amazing dishes that pulls inspiration from all over the world! My first night I tried a dish from Panama, the next Puerto Rico, and of course a Costa Rican dish as well.
I loved being able to “taste” my way through so many Latin cultures through their cuisines. Chao Pescao is mostly a tapas bar where you can enjoy happy hour and dinner.
Andaz Beach House: This location is great for relaxing and grabbing a bite to eat. Where you can enjoy beachside dining on Nacascolo Beach. They’re open for breakfast, lunch, and drinks.
Amenities & Activities
The Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo has so much to offer when it coms to amenities! Let’s start with their 4 pool areas — 3 of which are family pools and 1 that is designated for adults only.
Each location offers food and drink service at the pool along with an infinity-edge, which is perfect for your “insta-worthy” posts for later * wink *
The Onda Spa & Wellness Sanctuary is beyond amazing! During my stay I booked their ‘All About Semehmu’ Package. Which is a body treatment inclusive of a champagne body scrub and a gold body wrap that left my skin shiny and silky.
90 minutes | $230 per person
I also enjoyed a 60 minute reiki treatment. It was a first for me and I am so glad that I did it!
Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique that allows your body to relax, eliminate stress and heal through the energy of your own body.
60 minutes | $95 per person
Here’s a look at the activities available at the resort,
- Bird watching
- Salsa dancing
Another awesome offering that I enjoyed while staying at Andaz is the one on one mixology classes.
I had no clue what to expect, but honestly as someone who doesn’t have much mixology experience the class is very hands on, great for all experience levels, and the instructors are super knowledgable.
During my class we went for more of a sweet taste and funny enough named our creation “sweet drink” and I loved the natural ingredients!
Whether you’re going on vacay with the girls, family, or solo Andaz is truly a wonderful destination for all to experience and enjoy.
The amenities and activities vary from family friendly to adult relaxation as a luxury getaway.
There’s truly something for everyone and unless you want to go out and explore other cities or locals, you don’t really need to leave the resort. There’s so much to see and do at and around Andaz as I mentioned earlier in the blog post.
In order to get back to America you have to present a negative COVID test, I appreciate the resort having on site testing and making it so seamless to get the test done and the results back in a timely fashion.
Our own site test was around $83USD per test.
Overall I had an amazing time and would highly recommend Andaz and I plan to visit again!
When visiting Costa Rica here’s a look at the current travel requirements:
Complete the HEALTH PASS online form
The Health Pass must be completed within the 72 hours prior to departure.
Acquiring medical insurance
Tourists must acquire mandatory travel insurance that covers lodging in the event of quarantine as well as medical expenses due to contracting COVID-19.
I went with Roam Right for my insurance due to its great coverage and insanely affordable pricing.
